Hi,
I'm running NetBSD 1.4.1 m68k on a Macintosh Quadra 650,
with an external 56k modem.
I've been trying for months to get PPP dialup working properly,
and to share the Internet connection with the internal network.
First problem was getting the modem to work. Turns out CTS/RTS
handshaking just won't work, so I have to use XON/XOFF handshaking.
I tried with and without ipnat, ipf, routed, gated, named,
but nothing seems to get it quite right. If I try to ping both IP
addresses associated with ppp0, the local one responds, but the
remote one doesn't. However, I see the pings going out on the TR
modem light, but no response comes back. I also tries several
providers. On a few occasions I could get in, an the rest of the
network too, but I could not reproduce this a second time.
Also, when using routed, shutting down the PPP connection often
crashes the while NetBSD system.
Do you have any clues or suggestions?
I would appreciate any help.
Thanx
Brecht Sanders
