This is not new and the laptop performs adequately, but my IBM 755c
Thinkpad running 1.4.1 returns the kernel message 'clock: unknown CMOS
layout' on startup. Assuming this is an error, what does it mean and is it
correctable?

Timekeeping on this dual boot machine (Debian 2.1 on the other side) is
variable (days of accurate running alternating with occasional large slips
and some smaller ones. I've already ordered a new CMOS battery.

Thanks.
