I take it this is i386.. Does fdisk wd1 (assuming 2nd disk is ide) give you

3: sysid 169 (NetBSD)
ie., {0xa9, "NetBSD"}

for your NetBSD partition, or

{0xA5, "FreeBSD or 386BSD or old NetBSD"},

for both your NetBSD and FreeBSD partitions?
