Yes I can say what's wrong: it seems mbrlabel is trying to read sector 6531840
of a disk which has only 4999680 sectors. But I don't know why :)

Wolfgang, can you have a look at this ? I don't have much time these days and
my knowledge of the i386 MBR is limited ...
