Use some tool like the xmmix package or audioctl to turn up the volume,
or use some decent mp3 player that has a gui that allows sound volume
changes -> gqmpeg.

Binary packages for 1.4.1/i386 should be available on ftp.netbsd.org or
at ftp://smaug.fh-regensburg.de/pub/NetBSD/packages/i386/All/.
