Hi All,

I'm a bit of a new comer to NetBSD. Just recently I installed NetBSD
1.3.3 (pmax) onto a machine. I wanted to back up the whole machine to a
remote tape drive but I am having trouble with this. The command I issue
is -

rdump 0uf cheetah.ardec.com.au:/dev/nrmt1m /home

and the response I get is -

DUMP: Date of this level 0 dump: Mon Sep 6 12:26:50 1999
DUMP: Date of last level 0 dump: the epoch
DUMP: Dumping /dev/rrz1c (/home) to /dev/nrmt1m on host
cheetah.ardec.com.au
DUMP: mapping (Pass I) [regular files]
  DUMP: mapping (Pass II) [directories]
DUMP: estimated 6721 tape blocks on 0.17 tape(s).
DUMP: Protocol to remote tape server botched.
  DUMP: (rmtgets got "cheetah.ardec.com.au: Connect").
rdump: Lost connection to remote host.
DUMP: Bad return code from dump: 1

Here cheetah is running Digital Unix v4.0. I have set root's .rhost
file on cheeah with the following entry

vulture root

to give vulture root access to allow it to do the dump onto cheetah's
tape drive. All fairly standard stuff, but I get that strange error as
indicated above.

Has anybody seen it before or is there anybody who could help me with
this problem.

Thanks in advance
Predrag

PS : I have tried doing a remote dump to a mahine running HPUX 10.20, a
machine running Solaris 2.5.1 and they all give me the error messege
above !. Strange.
