Try to fix/map bad sectors on potentially unreliable HD?

Here is the rule of thumb I use, if it's out of warranty, get a new one.

Formula for calculating life of HD:
RealMTBF = (MTBF/2)/Times_Computer_moved_while_running
(MTBF:Mean Time Between Failure)

It is scary how many HD I've had die just months after the warranty ran   
out.
