I'm having a similar (the same?) problem on my NetBSD-1.4C/i386 machine...
when it locks up, I can't ping it, can't type anything on the console, and
can't break into DDB. Since it locks up so hard, I have no idea how to get
more info out of it. I think the last time it happened, I was compiling
mozilla while rsyncing the mozilla source to my alpha.
