ELF symbol table, using a.out instead.  It doesn't show up in dmesg, so =
i'm not exactly about it.  That's the generic 1.4/i386 kernel straight off =
the FTP site; maybe it acquired a glitch somewhere along the line.

i'll fetch a new copy and compare it...
