Thanks for the assistance ... After recompiling the kernel and making
the appropriatechanges to XF86Config  X seemed to start up.

Having a look at the screen is a bit disheartening...The screen is an
800x600 TFT display.
driven by a Chips & Technologies ct65550 chip set...

The default display looks terrible 640 x480 not centered, overscanned
etc.

Any chance you might let me have a look at your XF86Config  file ?
