Hi:

   I am currently trying to install NetBSD on a HP 300. I have
encountered
problems when trying to copy the miniroot filesystem via NFS. The
specfics to my problems are as follows:

Disk drive specification:
Vender -> Seagate
Model -> ST41200N
ns : # of sectors/track -> 96
nt: # of tracks/ cylinder -> 15
nc # of cylinders on disk -> 2573
bytes/sector -> 512

Disklabel config:
sys_inst> disklabel

Disk to label? sd4
Successfully read 512 bytes from sd4
(z)ap, (e)dit, (s)how, (w)rite, (d)one > s

disk type 4 (SCSI), ST41200N:
interleave 1, rpm 3600, trackskew 0, cylinderskew 0
headswitch 0, track-to-track 0, drivedata: 0 0 0 0 0

bytes/sector: 512
sectors/track: 96
tracks/cylinder: 15
sectors/cylinder: 1440
cylinders: 2573
total sector: 3705120

8 partitions:
    size            offset
a: 66240,       1440        # fstype: ffs; Cyl. 1 - 46
b: 329760,     67680      # fstype: swap; Cyl 47 - 275
c: 3307680,   397440    # fstype: boot; Cyl.  276 - 2572
d: 0,                0
e: 0,                0
f: 0,                 0
g:0,                 0
h:0,                 0

(z)ap, (e)dit, (s)how, (w)rite, (d)one > d

sys_inst: miniroot
Disk for miniroot? sd4
Source? (N)FS (t)ape (d)one > N
Name of miniroot file? miniroot-132.fs
My IP address? 47.192.1.164
My Netmask? 255.255.240.0
My gateway? 47.192.4.235 # server running arp
(Internet-to-Ethernet translation)
Server IP address? 47.192.4.235 # datafull server for dataless
client 47.192.1.164
Server Path? /
Copying miniroot from miniroot-132.fs to sd4 ..Read error, errno=0

I cannot get the miniroot filesystem copied to the target disk.
I also receive the following error when doing the miniroot
procedure:
.
..
Server IP address? 47.192.4.235
Server Path? /
Copying miniroot from miniroot-132.fs to sd4 ..Read error, errno=60

root@brtph949-1> ypmatch brtph949 hosts
47.192.4.235    brtph949
root@brtph949-2> uname -a
HP-UX brtph949 A.09.05 A 9000/720 2007855699 two-user license

I have thoroughly read the documentation provided for the hp300
installation. The installation requirements for NFS have been met:

1) The NFS server filesystem "/" is exported with root permissions

2) miniroot image, "miniroot-132.fs" resides on the server in "/' with
     proper permissions.

The "disklabel" application will always labels partition "b" as "swap"
and partition "c" as "boot" no matter what. However, the installation
instructions state the you should label the "b" partition as "ffs" when
specifiying filesystem type since the miniroot will be copied there.
Also, the instructions also state that the partition "c" will become
the "raw partition" for the whole disk. However, it is not clear
whether to specify the "offset" at 0 for this partition or to offset
it from the previous filesystem boundary.

Any documentation on what the different error messages mean
for the "miniroot" procedure would be a great help. If you
can shed any light on this problem which has probably been seen
before would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

              -Ken
