I had a simliar problem with my ASUS SP3G and an AMD dx4-100 although
I now don't remember the details. The problem went away when I set
a motherboard jumper to not use power saving CPU features or something
like that. Sorry I no longer have the hardware or the manual or I
would be more specific.
