I have 3 machines connected on a local wire together. I attempted to send mail
from one machine, to the one sitting right next to it, and visa versa..

None of these machines can speak to one another.. I know I have set this stuff
up before between machines under 1.21.. 2 of these machines are 1.2 one is
running 1.3ALPHA..

Each machine fails to deliver mail with:

Nov 28 10:12:49 garbled sendmail[5281]: VAA02513: to=root@alpha, ctladdr=root
(0/0), delay=12:32:50, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=smtp,
relay=alpha.futureone.com., stat=Deferred: Name server: alpha.futureone.com.:
host name lookup failure

It looks to me like its actually trying to use the destination host as the name
server.. why the heck would it do something silly like that?? the machine
"alpha" is using the generic sendmail.cf shipped with the snapshot... iv'e
tweaked around with some of the other machines slightly.. but nothing seems to
do the trick. all machines are listed in eachother's /etc/hosts.. not running
YP. the other machines do not have a resolv.conf (this one has to.. its the
ppp gateway)

I'm at a loss here.. any help would be rewarded with my undying gratitude. ;)
