That sounds like your /sbin/fsck and /sbin/fsck_ffs are still linked
together. They're separate in 1.3 (fsck is a wrapper that runs the
appropriate fsck_* on the filesystem). Is this the error you're getting?

Usage: fsck_ffs [-dfnpy] [-b block] [-c level] [-m mode] filesystem ...

If that's the problem, when you untar the base tarfile, make sure you use
the --unlink option, i.e. tar --unlink -xzvpf base.tar.gz

Some folks were having this problem on the port-mac68k list... it can
happen on any port though; perhaps all of the 1.3 upgrade instructions
should mention that --unlink is very important?
