Hi,

I just bought an Ariadne Ethernet card for my Amiga 2000 running NetBSD
1.1. When I try to use 'ifconfig ae0 192.168.0.5', I get a message
'ae0: lost carrier'. What exactly does this mean? Am I using the right
device and parameters for ifconfig? I'm not familiar at all with setting
up Ethernet under UNIX (I've always used a PPP connection). Also, does a
device node for ae0 have to exist in /dev? I've run 'MAKEDEV all' and ae0
is not there and I have found no documentation referring to setup of an
Ariadne.

Oh, and at bootup, I _do_ get a message:
ae0: at zbus0 rom 0xea0000 man/pro 2167/201
ae0: hardware address 00:80:10:f0:22:d0 32K chip-revision: B2

so I would assume the board is working.

I have a 3Com hub with a PowerMac 8500 and the Amiga 2000 hanging off of
it. The cable works fine (I've connected two 8500's together with it and
another cable just fine).

Thanks!

Eric
