This doesn't have anything to do with yp(bind/serv) running. If you've set
up your /etc/resolv.conf correctly, it should go out and as your nameserver
to resolve names, if it can reach the nameserver. You might try adding a line
"lookup file bind" to your /etc/resolv.conf.

This is most probably because you just forward the WWW-requests to a web proxy
which knows how to resolve names.
