Hmm, I build the same version of perl without any problems. If I
remember correctly, I replied <yes> to the question "Do you want to
use vfork()?", disabled suid/sgid scripts and replied definite NO to
the question "Do you want to use nm to extract symbols?"

I am using -current utils/libraries as of May 24, 96 and I build perl
on mac68k and sparc platforms.
