Hi,
I have a PC with an AIC-7850 SCSI-II controller on the motherboard
that I would like to run NetBSD on. I had thought that the AIC-7850 was
the same as the AIC-7870 that is the heart of the Adaptec 2940 PCI SCSI
adaptors, but with a smaller FIFO. I know that the Windows-NT and
Netware drivers treat the two the same, but that probably isn't saying
anything.

Can anyone suggest how I can proceed to get NetBSD working on this
system? Would simply binary-editing the kernel floppy to change the bit
that's looking for the PCI controller type code to look for the word
0x5078 instead of 0x7078, or is there more to it? Does anyone already
have a kernel that works on this platform?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

Andrew Reilly
