Since I upgraded to 1.1 and emacs v19.30 I have been getting the
following message

	stty: TIOCGETD: Inappropriate ioctl for device

from lots of places within emacs, mostly to do with shell command output
and such.  I presume this is an ioctl that is no longer supported in
1.1.  Should I change the emacs code to use some other equivalent?
Anyone else notice this?
