If you have serial console does adding
options EARLYCONS=sunxi, CONSADDR=0x01c28000
options VERBOSE_INIT_ARM
to the kernel you're trying to boot with modern bootarm.efi show anything?
I think I got the correct EARLYCONS/CONSADDR for your board.
