 please don't remove this feature.
 
 i've used it infrequently over the years and i'm fairly sure i have
 at least one script that relies upon it (even though they could be
 rewritten.)
 
 it would not be sane to keep /dev/sound as a valid device if the
 semantics of it were changed (ie, the sticky removed) since that
 is explicitly the difference between them (and something we
 effectively gained from OSS-compat.)
