 Not necessarily, it may just be that your particular hardware is not
 supported in NetBSD 7 - which model iwn is it?
 
 Over time, more chipsets have been supported, and the number of firmware
 files has grown.
 
 Earlier (though I don't remember how far back) there were apparent
 licensing issues with the files - it was thought that we were unable
 to distribute them, hence the requirement (in the past) to install them
 from pkgsrc.   That question has since been cleared up.
