>Description:
A filesystem created by Mkfs (Nov 12 1999 version) in Mac OS is compatible with the Mac OS "NetBSD/Mac68k Installer" and NetBSD, but a filesystem created with newfs in NetBSD is not compatible with the Mac OS "NetBSD/Mac68k Installer".

"NetBSD/Mac68k Installer" is a good way to access and modify a non-functioning NetBSD installation from Mac OS, and it's also a quicker way to install NetBSD using the traditional method (e.g. "NetBSD/Mac68k Installer" can be run on a G3, G4 or G5 with SCSI to install NetBSD packages to a SCSI disk more quickly than the packages can be installed using a native 68030 system).

The practical result of this problem is that any NetBSD partition created using newfs is no longer accessible from Mac OS.
>How-To-Repeat:
>From an existing NetBSD installation on a 68030 system (such as a Mac LC III), create a filesystem using newfs. Use Mkfs in Mac OS to set the partition as a "NetBSD root & usr" partition, then try to access the partition using "NetBSD/Mac68k Installer" (this will fail).
>Fix:
Probably "NetBSD/Mac68k Installer" needs to be updated to support the specific version of the filesystem that is created by NetBSD 7.0 newfs.
