 I get the same kernel assertion on 7.99.3 amd64 (now in line 1715):
 
 panic: kernel diagnostic assertion "rw_lock_held(&wl->wl_rwlock)" failed:
 file "/home/source/ab/HEAD/src/sys/kern/vfs_wapbl.c", line 1715
 
 I will try to do some tests with the suggested patch applied.
