 Are you sure it's dhcpcd at fault here?
 Also, did you trim some lines as theres clue what it's waiting on - try 
 adding the -d flag for more information.
 I'm running exactly what was imported on FreeBSD and OpenBSD qemu images 
 just fine *, and of course on the NetBSD host as well. All i386.
 For reference my qemu is at version 2.1.0 from pkgsrc and I did not 
 specify a nic model type.

 * fine here means it gets a DHCP lease, there are other issues on other 
 BSD's I'm working on fixing
