NetBSD farnsworth.hemma 6.1.4 NetBSD 6.1.4 (GENERIC) i386
IBM Thinkpad T23 type 2647
>Description:
Booting a NetBSD kernel with auich enabled on a Thinkpad T23 will crash the
system. The specific model is a T23 type 2647 with an Intel 82801CAM with AC'97
sound feeding into a Cirrus Logic CS4299 AC'97 codec.
The system is unresponsive to Ctrl-Alt-ESC or anything other than a forced
power off.
>How-To-Repeat:
Boot the system with auich enabled.
Booting the kernel using the debug flag, boot -d, will give the following
output:
fatal breakpoint trap in supervisor mode
trap type 1 code 0 eip c0267794 cs 8 eflags 202 cr2 0 ilevel 8
Stopped in pid 0.1 (system) at netbsd:breakpoint+0x4: popl %ebp
db{0}>
>Fix:
A poor work-around is to disable auich either by recompiling the kernel with
that option commented out, or by booting the system with boot -c and using the
userconf to disable auich (have to be done on each boot).
