 This issue appears to have been a result of "libc/compile_rt lossage"
 as discussed in this thread:

 Cleaning out ${OBJDIR}/lib/libc (and related ${OBJDIR}/compat/...)
 directories, updating and rebuilding appears to have solved this
 problem (and lib/48562 as well).
