The installation documentation (INSTALL.more, ...) has a change log entry for 
bge(4) that states "Add support for Apple's Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet 
adapter.  (PR#46961)" The patches in the associated PR are not in the 6.1 
source tree and my Thunderbolt to Gigabit adapter is not configured by the 
GENERIC kernel.

Boot NetBSD/amd64 6.1 on a computer with an Apple Thunderbolt to Gigabit 
Ethernet adapter plugged in.
>Fix:
Backport the patches in PR#46961.
