I try to install NetBSD 6.0 BETA using the ISO downloaded from nyftp 26-03-12 
but sysinst halts at root:

When I boot from the DVD drive I can see that cd0a is initially found and my 
hardware is then listed - mainboard, video, USB, audio, network, hard disks, 
etc.

Somewhere along the way cd0a gets lost, because when this root: prompt comes up 
and I input ? to list possible candidates for root I am not presented with cd0a 
as a possible candidate. All I get is age0, wd0[a-p], wd1[a-p], wd2[a-p], fd0.

This DVD drive works with other operating systems and with an earlier stable 
release of NetBSD (5.1 amd64).

The DVD drive is the only device attached to the onboard IDE channel. It is 
jumpered as master. The onboard IDE controller is a Marvell 88SE6111 controller.

I also have a PCI adapter which gives me a spare IDE channel, but removing this 
adapter does not solve my problem.

The hard disk drives are all attached to SATA ports.

I also have a SCSI adapter which at the moment is disconnected from my tape 
drive. Removing this does not solve my problem either.

The only way I can install NetBSD 6.0 BETA is by using an external USB DVD 
drive.

I also tried an i386 -current ISO, NetBSD 6.99.4, which gives me the same 
problem.
