 The problem with lang/gcc46 also appeared while using -g :
 
 
 gcc -c -g -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -fkeep-inline-functions -W -Wall -Wwrite-strings 
-Wc++-compat -Wstrict-prototypes -pedantic -fpic -I. physmem.c
