 This PR was already closed, but:
 
 That seems scary; if it's really the case, should I file a PR?  I don't
 use MODULAR and can't confirm it, though.  But as we know the other
 option would be not to use MODULAR and to raise the secure level where
 security matters, so another option would be to document the behaviour.
