 Nothing in the acpi(4) stack has really changed in this area. (Although 
 ACPICA has been updated three times.) I think this is something in the
 changes done to i386/amd64 'machdep.c' and cpu_reboot() therein. The
 versions in 5.X and HEAD look quite different.
