See also problem #43065

I downloaded the installation iso from ftp.nl.netbsd.org.

At booting the installation CD (both with and without ACPI) early in the
booting process (characters are still white) there is a warning cant load
/stand/i386/5.1/modules/something, where "something" is a bunch of garbled
characters. The boot process goes on and green characters appear showing
bootmessages. It ends with:

...
warning: no /dev/console
exec /sbin/init: error 2
init: trying /sbin/oinit
exec /sbin/oinit: error 2
init: trying /sbin/init.bak
exec /sbin/init.bak: error 2

Running `load miniroot.kmod` before booting gives the same result.

This also happens with the 5.0.2 installation CD.
The 4.0.1. installation CD works fine on this laptop.

Hardware: IBM Thinkpad R31 with BIOS 1.270 and 256 Mb RAM.
After installing 4.0.1 I did a demsg, see
http://box.matto.nl/downloads/dmesg-r31-netbsd-4.0.1

>How-To-Repeat:
Boot from installation CD where version is 5.0.2 or 5.1 RC4
>Fix:
