 OK, I looked at the affected file from the above commit and there's
 definitely an appropriate substitution being made.
 
 It would appear that a succession of update builds (with "-u") is not
 sufficient to force the relevant files to be updated.  I started a
 build without "-u" on another machine.  I'll see how that affects
 things soon.
