We'll need more information - e.g., is it a DVD or CD you're booting from?
What kind of CD drive? What other hardware? Does the 5.0 install CD boot?
(That is, is it only -current's bootloader that's broken, or does the problem
go way back?) Also, can you check that the CD/DVD you're using was burned
correctly and that the image you burned was downloaded correctly?
