 It's happening with the GENERIC kernel built as part of a full
 "build.sh release"; I assume that means it's modular.  My automated
 build and test framework doesn't have a simple or convenient way of
 building, installing or booting a release with a nonstandard kernel.
 Is testing a monolithic kernel really necessary for finding the bug?
