        When I insert a CD into the CD-ROM drive, the system wedges,
        and the kernel reports approximately the following messages
        (from memory, because I don't want to test this a fourth time
        (this machine is my home router) and because it didn't get
        written to any file):

                wdc_atapi_intr: bad data phase DATAOUT
                piixide0: reset failed
                piixide0: unbusy timed out
                piixide0: reset failed

                ...

        This is on a freshly installed 5.0_STABLE system from sources
        updated 2009-06-14.  The CD I tried to insert is the ISO image
        I built from those sources, from which I upgraded this former
        4.0.1 system to 5.0_STABLE.
