>Description:
I installed NetBSD 5.0 with all sets except compilers and games, noacpi-kernel
(not due to problems, just so). When configuring it, I noticed that I do not
get man-pages for certain requests. Some man-pages work (like man man), others
do not. All that did not I think belonged to section 1. I compared the man.conf
file with a file in NetBSD 4.0.1, and it was the same. Interestingly, when
asking apropos, I did receive notices that such manpages should exist, and
indeed, on the 4.0.1 machine they exist as expected.
>How-To-Repeat:
apropos pkg_add --> gives you a notice that a man-page should exist
man pkg_add --> says no man-page exists
apropos ifconfig --> gives you a notice that a man-page should exist
man ifconfig --> says no man-page exists

man mixerctl

etc.

>Fix:
I do not know of any fix, but

http://netbsd.gw.com/cgi-bin/man-cgi

contains the man-pages online - also for NetBSD 5, for those who have internet.
