 I see similar behavior on a non-CGD system (doing rsync backups, or 
 heavy disk I/O to an external USB disk).  It seems like my issue got 
 more severe after upgrading the server from 4GB to 8GB of RAM (this is 
 amd64), but it could have coincided with recent changes in -current as well.
