 OK... I just found that devmajor_t etc can't be typedefs
 but must be macros so that they can be #undef'd away
 in config(1) bootstrap - I'll need some time to test.
 Btw, config(1) assumes that dev_t fits into an "int",
 where it is stored in a "struct nvlist".
