>Description:
Hello,

I upgraded to the -current kernel in order to enable multiprocessor support,
which didn't work reliably on the release kernel (MP now works like a champ!).
But, in so doing I discovered that digital playback from the CD is broken. When
I go to use it, the machine freezes. I either have to login into another TTY
(for some reason, it only freezes the single console) and reboot from there or
do a hard reboot in order to regain control of the system. During this time,
the CD drive shows no signs of life. Analog mode still works (but since I don't
have an audio cable, it is of no use), but not digital. Switching back to the
release kernel, digital extraction works again (but, I don't have MP support).
I also tried installing the -current cdplay, to no avail. This not only affects
cdplay, but also other software that makes use of digital extraction - i.e.,
cdparanoia. Otherwise, audio does work on this system - mp3 and ogg files play
with their respective software (mpg321, ogg123).
