I tried this (didn't see the original patch) and it's just as unreliable as 
before. I think x86 needs an MD solution that requires all TSCs proceeding   
in step. Initial skew at CPU boot would be OK, but detection of drift would 
need to disable the TSC. Also there numerous CPUs where TSC is completely
unreliable, mainly due to power management issues. 

So in short I think it's better for x86 to move to a different, MD solution.
