port-i386/37960: x86's mbr_bootsel no longer automatically boots
>Synopsis: x86's mbr_bootsel no longer automatically boots
>Arrival-Date: Tue Feb 05 08:50:00 +0000 2008
>Originator: Markus W Kilbinger
>Release: NetBSD 4.99.52
NetBSD qie 4.99.52 NetBSD 4.99.52 (QIE.MP) #1: Tue Feb 5 08:22:10 MET 2008
/usr/mdec/mbr_bootsel of recent -current changed its behavior
in that it no longer successfully auto boots its default
configuration. Instead it displays a '?' after showing its
menu and timeout in the same manner as if a false key was
pressed in the meantime.
Pressing a correct key after that makes mbr_bootsel proceed
booting in the correct/intended way.
Install -current's mbr_bootsel (with several (I have 3) boot
menu entries and a correct boot config) and see how it
fails/stops booting the default config after its timeout.
- Use an older mbr_bootsel (of Nov 28th 2007 works fine).
- Manually press the key for the intended partition. :-/
