 I was having this problem too on an Alphastation 500au. However, I
 recently booted the netbsd-daily kernel for june 29th and today I
 sucessfully booted GENERIC and a custom kernel I built from the
 netbsd-current tarballs. I didn't have any luck with CVS for some
 reason, I was pretty sure I was using -rnetbsd-4 but I'd always get
 that panic in the scsi controller.
