I found best results with minicom and target set for:
hardware flow control off
software flow control on

The blade hardware won't work at all at 9600.
Another amd64 does post bios and kernel checksum into serial at 9600.

The blade hardware has 3 settings for console redirection, tried
em all. off, bios post, after bios post. The latter two (at
115200) give serial to checksum.

Same results for the other amd64, only 2 settings for console
redirection (on/off). With redirection on I get same results at
9600 and 115200, serial to checksum.

I'm stuck in the water.

When I find time, I may try PXE install with speed to 0, but
I think I've been through all permutations with two different
boards, and serial does not seem to work on amd64.
