And/or per David Laight's followup,

What's next? I need kbd or serial to do even a manual install from
RAM image.

I do have a usb net interface, which works with i386/3.0.1
GENERIC/INSTAL kernels (as I recall). but with all the usb hubs
being disabled at amd64 boot, that's out.

Took a look at bsdinstaller.org; I think it can setup a PXE server
for installs, but it doesn't look like netbsd is supported there
yet.

Is there something else I can try?
