 The order of evaluation for that expression is defined by the C
 language, so should not be system dependant.
 
 OTOH the code doesn't seem to be correct!  Possibly:
 
 if (setgid(grp ? grp->gr_gid : pw->pw_gid) != 0)
 
 might be what was intended.
