Hello all,

I recently bought a amd64 system. First, I booted up my old
NetBSD/i386 installation and did some final backups. The system seemed
very stable.

Then booted the NetBSD/amd64 3.0 installation CD, and installed the
system. After the installation, I started performing some
post-installation configuration. (downloaded kernel sources, configure
sshd, etc). Suddently, I say a message flash by (too fast to read), and
the system rebooted. After the reboot, the file system has some damages,
which was fixed by fsck, but some passwd-file was broken.. I decided to
get a good nights sleep, and try again later.

Today I redid the installation, and the same thing happened. Kind
of.. After the installation, I started doing post-installation maintenanc=
e.

Suddenly, I got this:
------------------
fatal protection fault in supervisor mode
trap type 4 code 0 rip ffffffff8039e11d cs 8 rflags 10206 cr2 200863e80
cpl 6 rsp ffff80000d239b18
syncing disks... 76 76 76 75 75 55 55 26 16 done
unmounting file systems...
------------------

=2E..and there it hung. Oddly, I can still switch console (Ctrl+Alt+1, 2,=

3, 4), and on tty's 2, 3, 4 I can type characters using the keyboard
(but it doesn't do any more than echo them).

Unfortunately, I'm not getting as far as being able to compile a new
custom kernel (which is among the things I was trying to do when it
hung), because that would allow me to enable debugging.

Anyone know what could be wrong?
