 As for the X11 resolution issue, this was simply solved by adding:
 
 Option "PreferredMode" "1280x1024"
 
 to the Monitor section of XF86Config.  This then is a non-issue (normal
 for XFree86 4.5.0).
 
 The PTHREAD_CONCURRENCY problem probably deserves a separate kern
 category PR.
