 Yes, it's fixed!  I can start smartd, the host doesn't panic, and smartd
reports reasonable info in /var/log/messages (see below if curious).

 Sorry for the delay in reporting back -- an update on about 14 Nov 05 to
/usr/src/usr/bin/cap_mkdb/cap_mkdb.c made it uncompilable for sparc64, so
i could not build NetBSD until that was fixed. (Which it has been, so
everything is perfectly peachy.)

 If there is anything else i can do, please let me know.
